Ermanno Tedeschi Gallery conclude la stagione espositiva del 2010 con una intensa doppia personale dell'artista  Barbara Nahmad, che abbandona almeno provvisoriamente il consueto tema del ritratto storico per concentrarsi e indagare e allo stesso tempo quasi scrutare l'attimo in cui due individui fino ad un attimo prima separati, si uniscono fisicamente e emotivamente nell'atto di baciarsi.
Cosa significa un bacio? Di tutto: può significare affetto, amicizia, amore, attrazione sessuale, ma anche adorazione, rispetto, accordo, obbedienza, superiorità, inferiorità, ammirazione,in alcune circostanze un bacio può perfino essere un insulto.
Un bacio può essere dato ma non ricevuto, oppure dato e ricevuto nello stesso tempo, può essere agognato, subito, sognato, o anche, come nella poesia di Salinas che costituisce l'incipit del catalogo, sospeso…
Per ogni bacio una storia, per ogni storia, un significato.
Attraverso le sue tele, realizzate ad olio e smalto, la Nahmad ci invita ad accompagnarla nell'esplorazione dei sentimenti che nel bacio si esprimono, e lo fa proponendoci immagini provenienti dal mondo del cinema - come Vivian Leigh e Clark Gable in Via col Vento, Marlon Brando in Ultimo tango a Parigi, Cary Grant in Notorius, e numerosi altri ancora, dalla storia dell'arte -  Amore e Psiche di Bronzino oppure Ercole e Onfale di Boucher , dalla fotografia di Doisneau, dalla cronaca - la tragedia del Vajont del 1963, il raid di Entebbe in Uganda nel 1976.
Come scrive Alain Elkann nel testo introduttivo al catalogo "Vale la pena guardare questi quadri e riflettere anche su noi stessi, sui nostri baci dati e ricevuti e su quelli negati o che ci sono mancati. L'arte deve provocare, deve toccare i sentimenti, deve far riflettere, sognare…e con le sue opere Barbara ci è riuscita molto bene."

Barbara Nahmad, nata nel 1967 a Milano, dove vive e lavora, ha al suo attivo numerose mostre collettive e personali in Italia e all'estero. Hanno scritto di lei, fra gli altri, Vittoria Coen, Vittorio Sgarbi, Arturo Schwarz e Edward Lucie-Smith.

Ermanno Tedeschi Gallery concludes the 2010 art season with an intense double personal show by the artist Barbara Nahmad who temporarily abandons her habitual theme of historical portraits. For this show she concentrates and explores, and at the same time examines the instant in which two individuals, up until now separated, come together physically and emotionally with a kiss.
What is the meaning of a kiss ? Anything: it can mean affection, friendship, love, sexual attraction, but also worship, respect, agreement, obedience, superiority, inferiority, admiration, in certain circumstances a kiss may even be an insult.
A kiss may be given but not received, or given and received at the same time, it may be longed for, endured, dreamt, or as in the poem of Salinas, which are the opening words of the catalog, interrupted...
For each kiss a story, for each story, a meaning.
Through her paintings, in oil and enamel, Nahmad invites us to follow her in the exploration of feelings expressed in a kiss, by presenting images from the world of cinema – such as Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable in “Gone with the wind”, Marlon Brando in “Last tango in Paris”, Cary Grant in “Notorious”, and many others; from history of art – Love and Psyche by Bronzino, or Hercules and Omphale by Boucher; from the photographs of Doisneau; from the news – the tragedy of Vajont in 1963, the raid of Entebbe in Uganda in 1976.
According to Alain Elkann in the introduction of the catalogue: “ It is worth seeing these paintings and also reflect upon ourselves, on the kisses we have given or received, on those refused or that we have missed. Art must provoke, it must touch our feelings, it must make us think, dream...and with her works of art Barbara succeeds in doing this very well.”

Barbara Nahmad, born in 1967 in Milan, where she lives and works, has exhibited in numerous group and personal shows in Italy and abroad.  Art critics such as Vittoria Coen, Vittorio Sgarbi, Arturo Schwarz and Edward Lucie-Smith have written about her.
